Arp 70 (GxG)

../images/dss/dss2blue_012328.00_+304654.00_5_web.jpg
Image source: DSS II (blue) - 5'×5'
Name: Arp70
Type: GxG
Constellation: Psc
Coordinates: 01h23m28.00s / +30°46'54.00"

Group Members:
PGC212740 (VV341B) b14m.8 0.4'×0.2' (125°)
UGC934 (VV341A) b14m.5 2.2'×0.7' (150°)
René Merting
12.5" f/4.5, 288x, SQM-L 21.0

Arp 157 (Gx)

../images/dss/dss2blue_012435.07_+034732.68_15_web.jpg
Image source: DSS II (blue) - 15'×15'
Name: NGC520, UGC966, H3.253, Arp157
Type: Gx
Constellation: Psc
Coordinates: 01h24m35.07s / +03°47'32.68"
Brightness / Size: 11m.4 / 3.7'×1.5'
Arp157 also contains the faint galaxy UGC957, but NGC520 is much more interesting. UGC957 (b18.0m, 1.2x0.9') is located NNW of NGC520 and north of a fainter field star (see DSS image).

8" f/6, 66x, Bortle 4-, NELM 5m.7+, SQM-L 20.8
Conditions in the target region: SQM-L 20.6
At 66x evenly bright, elongated, evident with averted vision. At 133x slight broadening toward the south end. The very faint extensions and the dark lane were not visible.

Arp 164 (Gx)

../images/dss/dss2blue_011557.64_+051043.51_5_web.jpg
Image source: DSS II (blue) - 5'×5'
Name: NGC455, UGC815, Arp164
Type: Gx
Constellation: Psc
Coordinates: 01h15m57.64s / +05°10'43.51"
Brightness / Size: 12m.7 / 2.0'×1.2'

8" f/6, 66x, Bortle 4-, NELM 5m.7+, SQM-L 20.8
Conditions in the target region: SQM-L 20.6
Oval, evenly bright. At 133x better visible, but still almost evenly bright. I guess, that I only saw the brighter central area.

Arp 227 (GxG)

../images/dss/dss2blue_011958.00_+032500.00_15_web.jpg
Image source: DSS II (blue) - 15'×15'
Name: Arp227
Type: GxG
Constellation: Psc
Coordinates: 01h19m58.00s / +03°25'00.00"

Group Members:
NGC470 (UGC858, H3.250) 11m.8 2.9'×1.7'
NGC474 (UGC864, H3.251) 11m.5 6.1'×5.0'
The eastern NGC474 already shows impressively concentric rings. On long time exposures very complex structures came to the fore.

Robert Zebahl
8" f/6, 100x, Bortle 4-, NELM 5m.7+, SQM-L 20.9
Conditions in the target region: SQM-L 20.6

NGC470: Already visible at 66x with direct vision. At 100x oval, slightly brighter core, otherwise evenly bright.

NGC474: Already visible at 66x with direct vision. At 100x roundish, appeared smaller than NGC470, but similarly bright with relatively bright, distinct, compact center.

NGC379: Already seen at 80x as small brightening. 200x: oval shape.

NGC380: Barely seen at 80x as small nebular with averted vision. 200x: round shape.

NGC383: Brightest member. At 80x round with slightly brighter core. Well visible with averted vision.

NGC384: Very small, compact. Intermittently seen with averted vision. It took a while to see this faint galaxy. Already glimpsed while observing nearby NGC385.

NGC385: Small, compact. Intermittently seen with averted vision. A bit brighter than NGC384.
