Conditions in the target region: SQM-L 20.3
Only the brighter parts of IC 434 were visible. No trace of the Horsehead Nebula. Tried at 30x and 46x with HBeta filter and 46x with UHC filter.

The edge of IC 434 was clearly visible. After a few moments the Horsehead Nebula was also clearly visible with averted vision as an irregular darkening in the nebula.
