IC349 is a very small, interstellar dust cloud, which passes the bright star Merope deforming the nebula. Visually very challenging due to the short angular distance. Unfortunately the nebula isn't visible on the alongside DSS image.

At 22x conspicuous, but dim, slightly oval. At 69x the edge appears irregular and the interior of the nebula not completely homogeneous.

At 37x oval, evenly bright. Near the edges slight darkening outwardly. At 100x irregular shape. Slight differences in brightness within the nebula were guessable. At 150x mottled. On the eastern edge I could saw a dark notch with averted vision.

bei 36x zeigt sich ein homogen heller großflächiger leicht elongierter Nebel - bei 111x wirkt die nun schon sehr große Nebelfläche gleichmäßig hell, die Kanten sind etwas diffus - am südlichen Ende wirkt der Nebel diffuser bzw. ausgebuchteter - bei 160x flankieren an den westlichen und östlichen Enden zwei Sterne den Nebel - er wirkt etwas strukturiert und die Ränder sind etwas gefranster - [OIII] ohne echte Wirkung

Located south of Merope, fan-shaped, broadly blending into the background, slightly curved. After longer observation the nebula was obvious with averted vision. It's useful to compare this region with the more darker surroundings!

ich habe zunächst gedacht, das Okular oder der FS sind beschlagen, aber eine Prüfung an anderen hellen Sternen abseits der Gruppe zeigt schnell, dass es die Reflexionsnebel sein müssen - bei längerer Betrachtung werden erste zarte Strukturen wahrnehmbar - der Nebel um Merope ist lange nicht so groß wie auf Fotos
