NGC 2237-39 & NGC2246 (BN)

Image source: DSS II (red) - 100×100'
Name: NGC2237-39 & NGC2246, Rosette Nebula
Type: BN, EN
Constellation: Mon
Coordinates: 06h32m00.00s / +05°00'00.00"
Brightness / Size: 6m0 / 80.0x60.0'
Robert Zebahl
8" f/6, 37x + [OIII], Bortle 4
Evident, bright, very irregular shape with many details. Without a filter the embedded open cluster NGC 2244 is more obvious.

NGC 2261 (BN)

Image source: DSS II (blue) - 5×5'
Name: NGC2261, H4.2, Hubble's Variable Nebula
Type: BN, RN
Constellation: Mon
Coordinates: 06h39m10.00s / +08°45'00.00"
Brightness / Size: 9m0 / 2.0x1.0'

60mm f/10, 48x, Bortle 6, SQM-L 19.2
Extremely faint brightening. Almost held with averted vision.

70mm f/8.6, 48x, Bortle 6, SQM-L 19.2
Slightly elongated, rather faint brightening.

102mm f/11, 62x, Bortle 6, SQM-L 19.0
At 28x quite compact, rather roundish nebula. At 62x quite conspicuous. The comet shape can be seen very well, the tip is clearly brighter. At 86x very conspicuous. At the tip a faint star in the middle of the nebula is visible with averted vision.

120mm f/5, 66x, Bortle 6, SQM-L 19.2
At 48x comet shape hinted, at 66x clearly seen. One side appeared brighter and better defined.

8" f/6, 37x, Bortle 4, SQM-L 21.0
Conditions in the target region: SQM-L 20.5
At 37x evident as small, bright nebula, whereas the typical comet shape was only visible with averted vision. At 80x bright, evident, fan-shaped. Tapered toward south and very well defined. At the southern end a 12.24 mag star visible with averted vision. The 'tail' was opened about 45° and faded out very diffusely into the background.

René Merting
B 10x50, SQM-L 21.5

NGC 2264 (BN)

Image source: DSS II (blue) - 20×20'
Name: NGC2264, H5.27, H8.5
Type: BN
Constellation: Mon
Coordinates: 06h40m36.00s / +09°47'00.00"
Brightness / Size: - / 10.0x10.0'
NGC2264 describes a larger HII region, which includes the Cone Nebula, the Christmas Tree Cluster and the diffuse nebula described here. The DSS image alongside shows only an extract of this region.

Robert Zebahl
8" f/6, 37x, Bortle 5
Diffuse brightening between a group of moderately bright stars southwest of 15 Gem, which I could fairly well see with averted vision.

vdB 87 (BN)

Image source: DSS II (red) - 5×5'
Name: vdB87
Type: BN, RN
Constellation: Mon
Coordinates: 07h00m34.50s / -08°51'50.00"
Brightness / Size: 8m8 / 3.0x3.0'
René Merting
100mm f/6.4, 38x, SQM-L 21.5
